Speak Without Words

Today’s healthcare environment isn’t know for being spiritually-friendly or -open, so I appreciated this story from a physician friend:

“I was training some physicians in China how to share spiritual concerns with patients, and asked them if they ever pray with their patients.

They looked at me like I was crazy, then said, ‘What kind of question is that?!  We don’t always pray, but we share the love of Jesus with every patient.’ ”

Those of you in academic medicine know that the climate in our hospitals and healthcare programs is not so very different from China.  The good news is that God’s always at work, and, we can always love people for Christ.

How can you share the love of Christ without words where you are?
